Episode 6: Prakash Travelling Cinema

Prakash Travelling Cinema, attempts to capture the spirit of an age old medium of entertainment; a bioscope film projector owned by two friends who share a deep friendship, unceasing optimism and most of all, an undying passion for their traveling cinema.
Modernisation has brought this bioscope to the brink of extinction. In spite of the increasing competition from movie theaters, television and video parlors this lone bioscope continues to roll through the streets of Ahmedabad, undeterred. ‘Prakash travelling cinema,’ as the filmmaker Megha Lakhani, a student of the National Institute of Design puts it, is merely a tool, employed to explore those intrinsic tendencies of human nature that constantly fuel emotions of hope, inspiration, endurance and the fight to survive the winds of change.

Cyrus

This Saturday, 18th August, on the 4th episode of Through The Looking Glass we feature a documentary made by 9 students from the Social Communications Media course at Sophia Polytechnic.

Rooted in Hope is a film on The Anchorage, an organization set up to give mentally challenged adults an opportunity to work and spend their time more productively. The documentary delves into the world of these adults who are often misunderstood and more often than not forgotten by society. In the midst of this unfortunate scenario, Anchorage provides a ray of hope by offering them an opportunity to lead a fulfilling life with dignity and respect.
